About Tesco Blu-ray Rental

The Tesco DVD rental website was launched in early 2004 in partnership with LOVEFiLM, Europe's largest movie rental company. The service grew in popularity due to the trusted Tesco brand and the strong presence on the Tesco Entertainment website.

With the introduction of the Blu-ray disc format in 2006, Tesco started to stock movies on Blu-ray for their customers to rent through their DVD rental account. The Tesco Blu-ray business grew in popularity as more and more people bought Blu-ray players when the prices dropped significantly in 2009.

In August 2012, it was announced that Tesco's Blu-ray rental service would be terminated, and customers' account would be moved over to LOVEFiLM. New visitors to the Tesco website were automatically redirected to LOVEFiLM.com where they were offered to join LOVEFiLM instead with the offer of a 30 day free trial.
